1. Which list is which

The visa eligibility list (Australian Government)

One of the twelve subclass 190 criteria is that your occupation must be on the relevant list of eligible skilled occupations for the 190 visa. This list is published by the Department of Home Affairs, and it is also where your occupation's ANZSCO code, skill level and assessing authority come from.

Victoria's priority occupation list (2026-27)

Victoria published 101 priority occupations across four priority industries on 13 October 2026. ROIs in each priority industry or industry subgroup are ranked against each other using the Victorian Points Test, so those occupations are invited through a second stream as well as the most competitive one.

The four priority industries are Healthcare (59 occupations), Social assistance (6), Education (5) and Construction (31).

Education note: for Early Childhood (Pre-primary School) Teacher (241111), ROIs with one or more years of relevant work experience and Proficient or Superior English are prioritised for invitation.

3. The 190 eligible occupations list — all 427 occupations

Subclass 190 requires your occupation to be on the Australian Government's eligible occupations list. Under LIN 19/051 (compilation 5, in force 28 March 2026), subclass 190 with a state or territory nomination uses the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (212 occupations) and the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (215) — 427 unique occupations once the overlap is removed. The table below is that list in full, with each occupation's skills assessing authority and a flag showing which are also on Victoria's 2026-27 priority list.

4. What being on the priority list does — and does not do

It does

• Enter your ROI into the priority-industry stream, where you are ranked against other ROIs in the same industry or subgroup.
• Matter for the partner factor: the 50 partner points on the Victorian Points Test require your partner's occupation to be a current priority industry occupation (along with claiming 10 Partner Skills points in SkillSelect and including your partner in the application).

It does not

• Make you eligible for the visa on its own — the occupation must also be on the Australian Government's eligibility list.
• Guarantee an invitation. Victoria invites the highest Victorian Points Test totals in each round and states it cannot tell you your likelihood of being invited.
• Change the federal points test. Victoria's nomination adds 5 points to your SkillSelect score; the VPT is a separate ranking score.
