You read one passage, then choose the single best answer to one question. Pearson lists 1–2 Multiple Choice, Single Answer items in Part 2 Reading, alongside four other task types, and Reading is one timed section of 27–37 minutes for five question types.
The task is marked correct or incorrect. There is no partial credit and no negative marking: a right answer earns one point, a wrong answer earns zero, and an empty answer earns zero. Your Reading score is the only one affected.

Because nothing is deducted, never leave a Single Answer item blank. If you can eliminate even two options, a guess between the rest is worth taking before the clock runs out.
IRCC's published table maps a Reading score of 60–68 to CLB 7, 69–77 to CLB 8, 78–87 to CLB 9 and 88 or above to CLB 10 or higher.
