PTE Core (Pearson Test of English Core) is a computer-based English language test specifically designed for everyday, practical English โ the kind needed for immigration and permanent residency, not academic study. It was approved by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) in late 2023 and is now accepted for all major immigration pathways.
Unlike PTE Academic (which targets university admissions), PTE Core focuses on real-world communication โ writing a friendly email, following spoken instructions, or reading a workplace notice. Scores map to Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) levels 3 to 12.
